I have always used one of those rubber griper things used to open lids of jars--Their in with the kitchen utensils at wal-mart.

Channel-lock pliers -- they're those pliers where the handles and the ';jaws'; are tilted at an angle.
And in a pinch... a new bottle of nail polish is only a buck or two. Life's too short to screw around with stuck old nail polish bottles.
Run very hot water over the cap, trying NOT to heat up the glass . The plastic top should expand faster than the glass and poof it can be turned off it you act quick enough. BUT never ever use direct heat like a match or lighter. You want to keep those nails and fingers don't you?!
Throw them out.......the ingredients have probably expired, making them very ';thick'; and gooey!
You'll cause yourself more stress trying to salvage them....rather than buying some new ';trendy'; shades

Soak them in hot water and after a few minutes extract each one of them and use a pair of pliers to twist the cap. Then clean the bottle threads.
BANG the stick part on the side of the countertop several times! Then soak it in nail polish remover for about 1 minute.

Just bought a 36 Watt nail lamp? How long do I put my nails under when drying normal nail polish?
Also would you reccomend putting suncream on my hands to prevent UV damage to my fingers? I only want to use the lamp to dry my nailpolish as I can never to my nails without accidentally scraping/chipping the polish off. How long do I hold them under for?

Years ago I used to bite my nails to the point of bleeding. I was always embarrassed. It's a nervous habit and one you CAN break with practice.
The thing is when you bite your nails, they are left with rough edges that often feel uncomfortable, which makes you want to bite the nails to smooth the edges and this only makes them worse.
Try applying artificial nails to keep them covered. When they look really nice chances are you'll be less likely to bite them.
That is what I did and it worked.
To break a habit, you just have to keep yourself from it.
Read this article on how you can apply your own artificial nails and maintain them yourself for less then twenty dollars.

I usually wait about 5 minutes max inbetween coats, to make sure it is dry to prevent air bubbles. Maybe that is just because I don't want to have to do it over again. The active and flammable ingredient in most of these is Acetone. If it is really soaking wet with it, hang it outside to dry before popping in the washing machine.
